UIDAI added a secure way to authenticate the cardholder's Aadhaar details by scanning the QR code which is located on both sides (i.e., front & back) of the Aadhaar Card. To scan that and verify all the details UIDAI released an Aadhaar Card QR Code Scanner App. Both the QR codes have the following information:
- Aadhaar Number
- Card holder's name
- DOB
- Gender
- Address
- Photo
- Contact Details
- and Other Details
QR codes on both sides are different & have different information in them, however, the QR code on the front is smaller in size and contains demographic data only but the QR code on the back side of the Aadhaar is larger and contains the cardholder's photo with demographic details.
With UIDAI digital signatures, both QR codes are more secure, and the risk of tempering has been reduced. UIDAI's custom application and UIDAI's digital signatures can verify new digitally signed secure QR codes in real-time, providing a more efficient verification process.

Verify using QR Code Windows Client
- Open the UIDAI Smart QR Code Reader
- Windows Secure QR Code / Offline XML Reader screen will appear as shown in the below image

- Now you have to select an Input Device.
Scanner Device (Handheld)
The device is used for scanning the Secure QR code available on Aadhaar Letter/e-Aadhaar for displaying the demographic details including photos of the Resident. |
